Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Physician Assistant Studies Program at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for three clinical-track faculty 12-month positions (#585060, #585070, and #585080) at the rank of assistant/associate professor. Start date for these positions is January 1, 2022. Positions contingent upon funding.

The University seeks innovative faculty with strong self initiative, organizational skills, interpersonal communication skills, and collaborative work ethic. Principal faculty will report directly to the Physician Assistant Program Director and must be team oriented and possess excellent communication and problem solving abilities. Principal faculty will be responsible for the collaborative efforts in planning, evaluating, and coordinating the development and implementation of the Physician Assistant Studies Program that meets the needs of the State of Tennessee and the profession.

Principal faculty will participate in selecting applicants for admission to the program as well as providing student instruction, evaluation, academic counseling, and remediation/reassessment efforts. Principal faculty will participate in the organization, administration, continuous review and analysis, planning, development, and participation in the accreditation process of the Physician Assistant Program. This includes applying for, achieving, and maintaining ARC-PA accreditation. Principal faculty will also be part of a team for implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the program’s curriculum on a continuous basis. Principal faculty will be instrumental in developing, reviewing, and revising as necessary the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program. Principal faculty must engage in open, collaborative, and collegial interactions with the Physician Assistant Program leadership, faculty, staff, and students.

Required Education:
For Physician Assistant candidates: Master’s level Physician Assistant degree
For Physician candidates: Graduation from an accredited medical school and residency program

Required Related Experience:
Three years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a physician assistant or physician.

Required License/Registration/Certification:
Applicants must be a physician assistant or physician.

Other Desirables:
Physician assistant applicants with current NCCPA certification and who hold, or are eligible for licensure in the State of Tennessee will receive special consideration. In addition, physician applicants who are ABMS or AOA-approved specialty board certified and who hold, or are eligible for licensure in the State of Tennessee will receive special consideration. Also, those with Physician Assistant education experience will receive special consideration.
